Brain Harmony's Home Program with ILs

Carol:
Hi, this is Carol, and we're here to bring you the tips and tricks of the trade of your new listening program. The number one rule at Brain Harmony is to enjoy your listening. In the beginning, you are just layering this into your weekly routine. You don't have to worry about exercises or making sure you get everything just right. Right now, it's about enjoying yourself.

Carol:
An important piece though to remember when you're listening is to stay in sequential order. You also want to make sure that your headphones, when you put them on, that the R goes on the right ear and the L goes on the left ear, as well as making sure that when you are charging your unit, that you are charging the iPod along with the amplifier each night.

Lara:
So when you take it off your head at the end of every time you use it, you want to plug both in, and that'll make sure that the next time you go to use it that it's working. The worst thing that can happen is that you're ready to listen, and the unit has no power. A fourth trick of the trade is to get up and move. When you do an hour of listening, that rule of thumb is about 20 minutes of movement, or if you're doing a 30 minute session, about 10 minutes of movement.

Lara:
The last trick of the trade is to tell us how you're doing. Every time your therapist calls you, they're going to be asking you some of the same questions. The first, what was the last listening session you completed? What level of bone conduction do you have the unit turned to? How many times a week are you listening? What kind of activities are you doing while listening? And lastly, what inch stones are you seeing?

Carol:
So now you have the most powerful tool in the world, in your home, so go have fun with it. This is not like any therapy that you've received before in the past, where they're trying to manually create changes in the brain. Let the headset do the work, and you have fun with your family member.
