Verbal & Nonverbal Learning Disabilities

Learning Ability is an aptitude, commonly defined by the ability to catch on, understand instructions, interpret directives, problem-solve, make judgments, and reason. It is often associated with ability to perform well in school or structured learning programs, but verbal and nonverbal learning disabilities can also have many other implications for the patient outside of those environments.

The acquisition of reading, writing, math and other academic skills is dependent upon a normally-developed nervous system. Communication between the brain’s two hemispheres and integration of the sensory input from the eyes, ears and motor systems must be intact for adequate response to intervention.

Symptoms of a learning disorder may include:

  • Problems reading and/or writing

  • Problems with math

  • Poor memory

  • Problems paying attention.

  • Trouble following directions

  • Clumsiness

  • Trouble telling time

  • Problems staying organized

Testimonials & Success Stories

NonVerbal to Verbal

At Lucas’s 18th month appointment his mother Megan realized that he had never started babbling. Lucas’s only communication was through grunting, he had never slept a full night in his life, and he was frightened by loud noises and change. The first time Lucas started listening with Brain Harmony, he slept through the night and started making babbling noises. He quickly became a vibrant boy, learning to communicate affectively through words and sentences, excited to try new things by becoming much more engaged in everyday life.

“Immediately his first time listening he start babbling and making sounds, and he had never done that before. Now he almost says full sentences, sometimes he does say full sentences. I can honestly say that it is so worth it, I wouldn’t take it back for a second. It’s a huge change, sometimes I can’t believe it. It was definitely the right choice, because all of us can benefit from it.”

ADD, Academic Struggles and Anxiety

Grant struggled with ADD, focus, nervousness, and anxiety for most of his life - preventing him from enjoying life to the fullest and performing at his peak potential at school. After working with Brain Harmony, Grant has achieved AB Honor Roll, has become more affectionate, and has tapped into his new found love for creative writing.

"Anxiety wise - before, I'd just get panic attacks just.. thinking about the future and how it's going to effect me. But now I've just been thinking about now." - Grant

"You have absolutely nothing to lose. No matter where you're at mentally, you have room to improve always. And it can be life-changing if you'll just give it a shot." - Grant's Mom

Dyslexia, Auditory Processing, Sensory Processing, Attention & Regulation

Kerry is a Homeschool Mom of 8. All of her children have been diagnosed with mild to severe dyslexia. Since beginning her journey with Brain Harmony,  she has seen immense progress in her children’s reading levels, communication, attention and emotional regulation, and processing.

“We have tried so much over the years, and so many different programs, and this has made the biggest difference… it has made a huge difference in a short amount of time, so I would definitely highly recommend it.”

Nonverbal, Autism, and Emotional Dysregulation

Micah was developing normally until 15 months of age and he began to regress.  Diagnosed with Autism at 2 and a half years old, Micah suffered from sensory issues, was primarily nonverbal, and had severe trouble engaging with his family and surroundings. After only a few months of Brain Harmony therapy, Micah began to make eye contact and engage with his family.  He has become a happy, vibrant, and engaged child. He shows affection, his sensory sensitivities have reduced, and he has made great progress in school and speech. His family is thrilled with his progress and they can’t wait to see what comes next!

“The two things I would say is that he is just more engaged and he’s just happy, he’s smiling. He’s just happy to be with us, and I think he’s happier with life. Honestly for two years we rarely saw him smile, and he has a wonderful dimple so when he smiles the whole world melts and we’re like, oh my gosh we’re seeing him smiling now, and we never saw that before. And of course as a mom all you want for your kid is to be happy, so to see him just happy, to just be alive, it’s just really cool, and I’m just super pleased with that.”

Academic Struggles, Anxiety, Sleep, Sensory Integration

Cassie and her husband were at their wits end after trying everything to help manage their son Emery’s stress, insomnia, and trouble learning at school. When Cassie heard about Brain Harmony on a Wellness Mama podcast, she knew she had to give it a shot. After an incredible free consultation, she decided to have the whole family begin the therapy. Within a short amount of time Emery began sleeping, his stress levels went down tremendously, he started excelling in school, and for the first time in his life he was playing sports with his siblings. His two brothers also saw incredible improvements in stress levels, creativity, and learning. His youngest brother in kindergarten is even reading at a 1st grade level!

“We were kind of at our wit’s end and just didn’t really have a lot of options, so I thought - what do I have to lose? We had been two years on multiple different doctors appointments and not getting anywhere. So I reached out to you for the free consult, and after speaking with you it was like you knew things that no other doctor had ever put the pieces together, and I just thought okay this is a definite for Emery. Really this is the only things that’s worked for us… you pick him up from school and he had a smile on his face… his quality of life has just really increased tremendously.”

Grace came to Brain Harmony reading 4 years below her peers.  She had difficulty spelling and retaining information taught to her the previous day.  Grace rarely initiated conversations with others and she would often shut down in group situations.  Additionally, Grace would only walk on her toes and skip and pace around a room.

"You were the first ones who gave me an answer to unlock my child.  It was like she was trapped and you let her out.  I cant believe the difference.  After only 6 months, she is reading at my level.  Thank you Brain Harmony!"  - Grace's Mom

“Brain Harmony, Carol and all her therapists, truly changed my daughter’s life. After so many injuries from delayed reflex development, we went to Brain Harmony for help. Within 2 years, her development was on track and she started kindergarten on a solid note! We LOVE this place so much!!” -  Annie S

“Both of our girls had a wonderful experience with Brain Harmony! It’s amazing what progress they both made physically and mentally - especially in the classroom! We highly recommend all of the therapists at Brain Harmony!”  Amy G
